Who we are
Curator Pal is run by Peter Kruger, a sole trader trading as Curator Pal, of 2 Leytonstone Lane, Bourne, Lincolnshire, PE10 0QS, United Kingdom. We are the controller of the personal data described here. Contact us at support@curatorpal.co.uk.
What Curator Pal does
Curator Pal (the Chrome extension and desktop app) drafts stock-footage metadata — a title, description and keywords — for your own clips, which you review and submit to BlackBox yourself. Curator Pal is independent and is not affiliated with BlackBox Global.
What we collect and why
| Data | Why | Legal basis |
|---|---|---|
| Your email address and name (from your sign-in, including Google sign-in) | To create and secure your account and contact you about it | Contract |
| Small preview frames from your clip, and basic technical facts (length, resolution) and any scene guidance you type | To generate metadata for that clip | Contract |
| Analysis records: time, the generated metadata, usage and outcome | To run credits fairly, refund failed analyses, prevent abuse and improve quality | Contract; legitimate interests |
| Credit balance, purchases and your Stripe customer ID | To sell and apply credits and keep financial records | Contract; legal obligation |
Your original video files are never uploaded. Only a few small preview frames are sent, and we don't keep them after the analysis. We do not collect your card details: payments are taken on Stripe's own pages.
On your device
The extension stores your sign-in session, analysed metadata, your edits, your Recent history and small thumbnails in your browser's extension storage. They stay on that device until you remove them, sign out or uninstall. The sign-in website keeps your sign-in only for the browser tab you use. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
Who processes data for us
- Supabase — accounts and sign-in, and our database (Frankfurt, EU).
- Render — hosts the Curator Pal service (Frankfurt, EU).
- OpenAI — analyses the preview frames to draft metadata (United States). We ask OpenAI not to store requests; under its terms it may keep API data for a limited period to detect abuse.
- Stripe — payments and billing (UK/EU and United States).
- Google — only if you choose Google sign-in.
- Netlify — hosts this website.
- Resend — sends sign-in emails.
Where data is processed outside the UK, it is protected by the provider's standard data protection terms, such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or equivalent safeguards. We never sell your data or use it for advertising.
How long we keep it
We keep your account while it is active. Analysis records are kept for as long as your account is open and for up to 12 months afterwards. Purchase and financial records are kept for 6 years, as UK tax law requires. You can ask us to delete your account at any time.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your data, and object to or restrict how we use it. Email support@curatorpal.co.uk; we reply within one month. If you're unhappy with our answer, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Changes
If we change this policy we'll update the date above, and tell you by email if the change is significant.
